ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Judy Davis

Judy Davis is a native North Carolinian. She has a passion for art, dance, and writing. She loves to paint in oil, watercolor, and acrylic, winning awards in all three mediums. Several of her pieces are privately owned by collectors in the triad area of Winston Salem-High Point, and Hatteras Island as well as in Canada.
Her love of self-expression and creativity drew Judy into dressmaking, doll making, art in worship, dance choreography, and poetry. Her poems evoke emotions while are at the same time, informative and edgy. “Thy Word There Still,” “The Church Primeval,” and “The Return, A White Horse is Coming” are prime examples. She believes poetry is fun and cathartic and provides a place for a field of thought not easily expressed in any other way. Many years before developing a passion to dye silks, choreograph dance, and outfit a dance team, she took formal tap dancing lessons. From 8 until 10 years of age, she danced on stage in local schools, talent competitions, once on the radio, and twice on television.

In the late ‘80s, when associated artists of Winton Salem began a program to take local artists into Forsyth County’s Public School System to demonstrate and teach art to the children, Judy became the liaison between schools and individual artists. In 1999, after doing volunteer work as a dental hygienist in Jamaica, she began traveling to various countries as a short-term missionary. In 2001, she worked at The Joseph Storehouse/Vision for Israel in Abu Gosh, then traveled into the disputed territories with Christian Friends of Israel’s Mission of Solidarity, visiting communities in Ariel, Shiloh, Hebron and the Golan Heights.
Judy lives near Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
